POWDER COATING
Powdercoating is a "painting"
process introduced in the late 1940's where the paint is
actually a dry powdery material. The powder is sprayed at
and clings to the part, then goes into an oven, where it is
cured. During the curing process, the powder turns into a
liquid and flows for a uniform coating. When the part comes out the oven, it
needs only to cool and is ready to be put to use!
Advantage
Powder Coating is typically less expensive than liquid
paint, and has also been found to be more durable. It
contains no solvents which gives it an environmental
friendly advantage. Because of the unique processes
involved with Powder Coating, a broad range of finishes and
textures can be obtained.
Disposing of wastes with Powder Coating is much easier than
with Liquid Paints.
Step by Step process:
Parts are thoroughly cleaned;
Phosphate chemical is added for steel parts
Next, the parts are hung to dry on fixtures, then grounded
and sprayed with powder
Finally, the parts are rolled into the oven to cure, after
which they cool and are ready to be packaged and sent
